The month of November is of special significance to the people of Zulia, because for the same are held celebrations in honor of the Chinita (equivalent of guajirita Zulia) or Lady of Chiquinquira. It is for this reason that these days, the bagpipe sounds with particular frenzy and joy throughout the Zulia. Of the many festivities in honor of the Virgin, perhaps the most impressive is the so-called Sunrise Piper, in which the people of Maracaibo is assembled on the morning of day 18 in the courtyard of the Basilica, to sing to the Mañanitas and Chinita Happy Birthday.
According to tradition Zulia, Maracaibo La Chinita arrived on the waves of the lake. The story goes that one day in 1749, just a simple woman washing clothes on the shores of Lake Maracaibo, when suddenly he saw floating a thin wooden board, which picked up thinking it might be useful to hide the jar water that was in the corridor of his house. The next morning when the coffee was brewing, she heard a knock as if someone was calling. He went to see what was happening and was overwhelmed with astonishment at the planchette shining and appearing in it, the image of Our Lady of Chiquinquira. For this reason, the woman shouted miracle! Miracle!, So hence came the name of the current Miracle on Lake Avenue, where was the house of the washer. After what happened, many people came to witness the prodigy, becoming by this humble house of the woman in a place of veneration of the Virgin by many believers.
